Aesthetic Dental Center is proud to offer dental services for every age group and all members of your family. We are strongly focused on preventing oral health problems by educating our patients. Our goal is assisting you in taking the reins of your own oral health, starting with your initial visit. All of our staff is available to help you with any questions or concerns that you may have about your dental needs or any ongoing treatment plan that you may have.

Being proactive is the most effective way to ensure that you enjoy good oral health. By visiting us regularly, you enable us to detect small trouble signs before they grow into large ones that require expensive dental work down the road. This guide was put together to help you realize what you should expect during your first dental appointment with us.

Preparing for Your First Appointment

If this is your first time visiting us, you will be asked to fill out an informational form. Some items on this form may include your dental history, general medical history, financial policy, informed consent and patient financial agreement.

You may want to schedule some extra time so that you will not feel rushed during your initial appointment. We also ask that you arrive a bit early so that you have time to fill out any needed paperwork. When checking in with the receptionist,  don't forget to bring your insurance card and drivers license.

Comprehensive Dental Examination

Although each patient is unique, there are some typical elements that you can expect during a comprehensive dental exam.

Oral Cancer Screening

If you smoke, the risk of developing oral cancer is significantly higher than the general population. Although cancer is a scary word, oral cancer is a form that is highly treatable when detected early. That is why it is critical that you keep up with your regular dental exams.

We help to prevent oral cancer by detecting early precancerous conditions. Your oral cancer exam involves looking for any growths, spots or swellings that may represent a cause for concern.

Periodontal Examination

Gum disease, medically known as periodontal disease, is the leading cause of tooth loss. This step involves an examination of your gums so that we can spot any early symptoms of gum disease before it takes hold. This helps to ensure that you prevent problems like bone loss or the loss of your teeth.

Checking for Dental Cavities

In this part of your exam, we are looking for signs of tooth decay on or between the chewing surfaces of your teeth. X-rays may be taken at this time, depending upon what is found.

We may also check your head and neck area, temporomandibular joint and salivary glands to ensure that you are in good health.

Developing Your Treatment Plan

Your first visit is very important because it allows us to detect any trouble signs with your mouth, teeth or gums. After we've learned the current state of your oral health, we can develop a custom-made prevention or treatment plan to ensure that you maintain your oral health between visits.
